Informations for callees

Why do you call me?

Basically, surveys apply one of two methods: the random sampling and the quota sampling. Both methods apply mathematical-statistical principles of choice.

Therefore, anyone could be selected to participate in a survey for market and social research purposes. In case our client provides us with addresses, we will select the people from this list randomly.
We do not know the person behind the dialled phone number but are only able to determine the approximate location based on the area code.

Do I have to participate?

The participation in market and social research surveys is voluntary and no one can be committed to provide information. You can also end the interview anytime during the interview.

How many people participate in a survey?

This may vary considerably and depends on the objective as well as the target group for the survey. This results in different interview techniques and thus the number of interviewed people.

How do you collect the data?

  • By phone
  • In writing ( paper questionnaires)
  • Face-to-face / in person
  • Online ( Internet questionnaire)

How do you ensure the privacy and anonymity over the phone?

In case of telephone surveys, JASU ensures the anonymity of the interviewees beyond the data protection by doing the following:

  • The address data and the survey data will be kept separately and in a safe place.
  • The address data will be destroyed as soon as possible.
  • Even in case of telephone surveys, the data will only be evaluated in such a way that makes it impossible to determine the identity of the individual.

What will happen to my data?

Most of the time, the interviewer will record your answers electronically. The questions are examined and separated from the address. Data and address are assigned a code number. Whoever reads your answers will not know who provided them.

The address remains at JASU, but only until the overall survey has been completed.
The address is used - if agreed so during the interview - to call you back or write for a new interview, where applicable.
You interview data is converted into numbers and saved on a data medium (diskette, magnetic memory) but without your address and/or telephone number.
This takes place already during the interview in case of a computer-assisted interview and your answers are directly entered on the screen.
The interview data (without name and address) is then evaluated by a computer and processed for our presentations.
JASU is a member of the „Berufsverband deutsche Marktforscher (BVM)" and complies with the provisions of the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) and all other privacy-r elated regulations.

How long does the interview take?

The duration depends on the project and the questionnaire.
It may be possible that the interview is completed after one minute.
But it might even take 25 minutes.

Does the one-time participation mean that I will be called more often?

No. New telephone numbers are generated for each project so that nobody has to worry about being called again after a one-time participation.

Can I ask questions regarding the purpose of the survey and/or the client?

Our interviewers have been instructed to answer any questions asked by the callees.
On request, our interviewers will give you a call back number that you can use to check the caller.
